A treasured piece of silverware will be up for grabs when fundraisers take to the pitch in aid of a Petersfield charity this weekend.

Petersfield Town will host a football tournament in aid of Dementia Friendly Petersfield this Sunday (April 28) with matches for players of all ages.

The main event will be the Dementia Walking Football Tournament from midday to 1pm with teams battling it out for The Jeff Williams Trophy.

Few need reminding of the “incredible contribution” the late Mr Williams made to the town through the Petersfield branch of the Royal British Legion, with roles including president, standard bearer and Poppy Appeal organiser.

The event sponsored by Right at Home Care Services will include kids football fun from 10.30am while a Dementia Friendly Petersfield 11 will take on a Petersfield FC XI from 2pm.

There will also be a breakfast and lunch barbecue, charity raffle, and bar in aid of the good cause.
